Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMT) to join Central Maine Medical Center's Nuclear Medicine Team!
Full-time, 40 hours per week, benefit eligible position!

The Opportunity:
As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, your diagnostic imaging specialty plays a pivotal role in providing top quality patient care.
Through your expertise, utilizing specialized equipment, radioactive materials and innovative procedures, we are able to achieve accurate diagnoses, which is vital in the creation of treatment plans for our patients.
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist prepares, measures and administers radiopharmaceuticals for use in diagnostic and therapeutic studies.
Essential Duties:
• Prepares stock solutions of radiopharmaceuticals and materials; calculates and administers doses under
the direct supervision of a Radiologist.
• Follows the five medication rights and reduces the potential for medication errors.
• Calibrates equipment.
• Performs diagnostic Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT exams on patients as prescribed by physician.
• Uses Nuclear Scintillation Cameras, CT and PET/CT scanners for detection and Attenuation
correction of radiation emitted to produce image of organ on PACs archival system.
• Measures radioactivity using Geiger counters, scalers and scintillation detectors.
• Follows radiation safety techniques and policies in the use and disposal of radioactive materials.
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population.
• Instructs and prepares patient for exams.
• Demonstrates the ability to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
• Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing exams.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
• Practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures.
• Takes call according to monthly schedule and after regular department hours. Responds to calls in a timely manner.
• Compiles and maintains quality assurance information. (i.e., log books)
• Interacts professionally with patient/family.
• Customer Service: Interacts with all individuals in a consistent manner, providing attention, support, and assistance to foster an environment of exceptional personal service.

Education and Experience:
• CNMT or ARRT(N) certification required
• Licensed by the State of Maine as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
• Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification or Due within one month
of expiration required.
• Current DOT HAZMAT training certificate renewable every three years.
