Position Summary:
Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a full-time Surgical Podiatrist to join our well-established Orthopedic
Institute and to provide cutting-edge podiatric care to patients in our Bridgton and Rumford hospital locations.
The Central Maine Healthcare Orthopedics division is a leading practice dedicated to providing
comprehensive orthopedic and podiatric care for patients throughout the Central Maine region. We are
seeking a Surgical Podiatrist to join our multidisciplinary team, working alongside our orthopedic surgeons
and other specialists to optimize care and improve patient outcomes. The Surgical Podiatrist will be
responsible for the evaluation, medical management, and surgical treatment of foot disorders. The focus is
on basic podiatric treatment and surgery, diabetic foot care, wound care, and reconstructive procedures for
the forefoot and midfoot. The role involves collaborating closely with orthopedic and vascular surgeons,
physicians from primary care, infectious diseases, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and wound care
teams to provide integrated patient care.
Essential Duties:
• Perform surgical and non-surgical management of primarily forefoot and midfoot conditions with
some ankle conditions
• Conduct preoperative and postoperative patient evaluations.
• Interpret diagnostic imaging and vascular studies to guide treatment decisions.
• Participate in hospital rounds, outpatient clinics, and multidisciplinary care conferences as needed.
• Work closely with our surgical podiatrist and orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon to provide a full
complement of care
• Educate patients and families on foot care, wound prevention, and long-term management.
• Contribute to the education of medical students and residents.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, or educational programs as needed.
Work Location: In person; must be willing to travel between two primary practice locations (Bridgton and
Rumford Hospitals; part of the Central Maine Healthcare System)
Education and Experience:
• Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from an accredited institution.
• Completion of a 3-year podiatric medicine and surgery residency (PMSR/RRA preferred).
• Board certified or board eligible in foot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle
Surgery (ABFAS).
• Eligibility for medical licensure in Maine.
• Experience in limb salvage, wound care, and forefoot/rearfoot reconstruction is preferred.
• Strong collaboration skills to work within a multidisciplinary team.
