Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Mammography Technologist to join our Breast Care Center team! 

 

This is a per diem position.

Responsibilities

 

 The Mammography Technologist performs screening and diagnostic mammographic procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their total breast care. Participates in CQI activities.

 

Essential Duties:

1. Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients

2. Demonstrates ability to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.

3. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors

4. Handles equipment safely.

5. Positions and shields patients accordingly

6. Practices medical and surgical asepsis.

7. Keeps procedure room clean and neat, makes minor equipment adjustments as needed.

8. Assists in maintaining basic records and reports.

9. Assists in maintaining files.

10. Interacts professionally with patient, family and staff.

11. Demonstrates knowledge of facility policies and the functions of other departments.

12. Adheres to local fire and safety regulations.

13. Provides Breast Health Education to patients.

14. Participates in Health Fairs and public education activities.

15. Compiles and maintains quality assurance information for mammography in accordance with ACR, State of Maine, and MQSA through FDA review.

16. Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.

17. Customer Service: Interacts with all individuals in a consistent manner, providing attention, support, and assistance to foster an environment of exceptional personal service.

Education and Experience:

1. High school graduate; BS degree preferred.

2. Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology: either college affiliated or hospital trained.

3. Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (AART) in radiography and certified/board eligible in mammography

4. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification required within one month of expiration.

5. Thorough understanding of anatomy, positioning.
