The position of Medical Assistant (MA), functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing direct patient care. The MA performs routine administrative and patient care support duties that assist the medical team in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic/office runs efficiently. The MA provides clerical support under the supervision of the practice manager and assists clinically in the delivery of patient care in the medical practice under the supervision of the provider. The MA works with the Practice Leadership in accordance with CMH department policies and procedures and operates within the American Association of Medical Assistants guidelines. The MA communicates with the appropriate person (Provider, Clinical Coordinator, Team Leader, and/or Practice Manager) about changes in patient's status and results of diagnostic studies.
The position of Athletic Trainer provides patient care under the direct supervision of the physician in the sports medicine office, developing and instructing patients on home exercise programs, fitting the patient with a variety of braces and supports, providing therapeutic modalities as indicated and directed, and with appropriate training fabricating and applying splints and casts in the management of fractures and other musculoskeletal injuries. Serve as a liaison for high school and college athletic trainers and coaches to coordinate care a follow up for patients of CM Bates SM. Responsible for maintaining inventories and assisting in the upkeep and maintenance of the sports medicine office. When duties permit, the athletic trainer will also assist in the role of medical assistant, including rooming patients, taking phone calls, and coordinating further patient care as needed. Duties also include marketing and advancing the practice, including conducting research and coordinating medical coverage for community events as needed.
