Overview

Rumford Community Home is seeking a Maintenance Technician for the Plant Ops Department, Per Diem, Variable Shifts.    

 

Position Summary:

 

Assume responsibility for repairs and preventative maintenance of the physical plant. Performs, when capable, all minor repairs and preventative maintenance to exclude major roof repairs and structural repairs. Processes work orders. Inspects the physical plant on a routine basis. Ensures that resident rooms are ready to receive new residents to execute the duties assigned by the job description and the Director of Personal Care Services.

 

Essential Duties:


• Repair and/or replace window screens.
• Repair and/or replace bathroom fixtures.
• Makes minor roof repairs.
• Minor repair and maintenance on laundry equipment.
• Dispense supplies according to need.
• Check overhead vents and clean them.
• Check on hot water temperatures in the facility.
• Floor Care
• Check plants, trees and grounds for general condition and appearance.
• Check heating systems, boilers and/or other systems.
• Check parking lot for cracks, painting and general cleanliness.
• Check all entrances for needed repairs.
• Painting inside and outside of the facility.
• Floor and wall tile work.
• Vinyl work and/or repair.
• Minor equipment repair.
• Preventative maintenance and service on equipment.
• Clean air conditioning and heating units.
• Clean filters on equipment.
• Change thermostats in heating/air conditioning units.
• Maintain the lawns, shrubs, plants and trees on facility property.
• Customer Service: Interacts with all individuals in a consistent manner, providing attention, support,
and assistance to foster an environment of exceptional personal service.


o Maintains a pleasant and helpful demeanor, and presents a professional appearance toward all
internal and external customers at all times.
o Consistently initiates interaction to provide assistance to individuals who may not be direct
customers of the employee (i.e. asks patients who appear to be lost if they need assistance in
finding their way).
o Takes appropriate action to recover from a service difficulty, ensuring that the necessary action
is taken to affect a resolution to the customer’s problem.
o Conducts all work activities with respect for coworkers, including the maintenance of a
pleasant and professional environment, fostering calmness during stressful situations.
o Interacts with supervisory personnel in a professional, supportive and courteous manner,
venting emotions appropriate to time and place.
o Demonstrates a commitment to service by consistent attendance and punctuality, scheduling
absences according to departmental requirements, and incurring unplanned absences only
when unavoidable circumstances exist.

 

Education and Experience:

 

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 1-3 Years Experience in a Maintenance Position Preferred


• Language Skills:


• Able to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Strong written and verbal skills.
• Additional languages preferred.
