Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Sterile Processing Technican to join their team in the OR! This is an entry level full time position with on the job training available!
Currently hiring for a 3p – 1130p position. Training would occur during the day shift 7a -330pm however some flexibility may be required. After training is complete you would transfer to your shift.
Position Summary:
The Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (SPD) is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department following established infection control practices. Works under a combination of direct and indirect supervision by the Manager or Designee. The Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician must be conscientious with regard to procedures and capable of working under pressure and interacting professionally with other departments within the institution, as well as outside sources with which they may have dealings. Must be able to accept new ideas and learn new position duties. Must become certified through the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) within the first year of employment. When test is passed, will be promoted to position of Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT).
Education and Experience:
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Certification within one year of employment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Knowledge of all general/basic instrumentation, equipment and supplies.
• Knowledge of the principles of infection control and sterilization.
• Basic computer skills.
• Demonstrates ability to direct and triage in a highly fluid dynamic operational environment.
• Ability to collaborate with all layers of the management/ administration team.
• Ability to engage patients and team members utilizing the CMH Experience Standards
